Bed Bugs can be difficult to identify for many people. This mis-identification can be for a variety of reasons:
- Lack of understanding
- Lack of knowledge of where to look
- Denial
These are just a few of the reasons people may believe they do not have Bed Bugs, when in reality, they do.
Due to this misunderstanding of Bed Bugs, people may post pone treatment thereby allowing the issue to grow and expand. They may even decide it is a good idea to treat the area themselves with product purchased from Home Depot, Wal-Mart, etc. This is done, again, due to lack of understanding. The products purchased over the counter may be labeled for Bed Bugs, but it’s important to note that something can be labeled to kill Bed Bugs if it simply kills Bed Bugs. A product applied directly to a live Bed Bug, which kills that Bed Bug can then be labeled to control/kill Bed Bugs. This does not mean that it will provide long lasting control of Bed Bugs. This is critical to understand.
Bed Bugs can be highly elusive due to the fact that they will hide deep in crack and crevices away from open areas that would be easy to see. Without proper understanding of where to look for them, one might simply glance over the bed and assume they don’t have bed bugs. This is a terrible mistake. Bed Bugs can hide and seem to be nonexistent for a long time!
